No-exam life insurance
Who's eligible for fast-track underwriting, how the process works, and what happens if you don't qualify.
Today, many carriers have accelerated underwriting: applicants in certain age and benefit ranges are approved using your application, medical record history, driving record, and other available data—no exam required. Approval can arrive within hours. Every quote here indicates whether the carrier requires an exam, might ask for one, or won't ask.
What it changes
No exam doesn't mean no underwriting — your statements are checked, and a policy written on false information can be disputed in the first 24 months. If the carrier's investigation unearths concerns, it may request an exam or tests anyway; you choose then whether to go forward.
Who tends to qualify
Most carriers approve applicants under about 60, seeking coverage up to their accelerated underwriting threshold, with unremarkable health background and no tobacco use for at least a year. If your doctor performed bloodwork recently, a few carriers will use those results rather than order an exam.
When an exam is needed in the La Mesa area, a nurse or paramedic typically visits your home or workplace for 20 to 30 minutes, free of charge. For healthy applicants, results sometimes lead to a better rate tier, so an exam isn't automatically a drawback.
